Term 2 Week 8 2025
From the Principal
Good day families and friends,
We are certainly in flu season at the moment with the cooler weather and a timely reminder of the importance of immunisations. Last year, thousands of Queensland students missed out on free, recommended immunisations simply because consent forms weren’t returned. With your help, we can lift participation in 2025 and protect more students across the state.
Enhancing immunisation rates not only protects students themselves, but also safeguards their families, school staff, and the local community.

Car Parking
You would be aware that we are working hard to ensure a smooth and safe transition for our students in the afternoons to their families and thank you for your ongoing support with this.
We have spoken with the students this week around how we follow the PATH at Pick Up. For those collecting we ask that:
Parents leave a space for car park users when queuing in the Roundabout line
Act safely by having children only enter from the left hand side. If this is not possible you will need to park in the car parking zone.
Treat all families with respect, care and patience.
Help remind your child each morning how they follow the PATH too.
A hidden gem you may not be aware of is our Hoey St access point. Teacher supervision and a lollipop lady are stationed at the exit gate to ensure students get to you safely and there is very minimal traffic here.
Edward St is also nice and close however please be aware that there is a loading zone that is not for parking but can be used to load students into safely if you remain in the car. If you need to get out, again you will need to park in a parking spot just a little further up.
God bless,
Lisa Fitzsimmons

Religious Life of the School
Dear families,
It’s been a busy few weeks, and now we find ourselves heading into the final weeks of Term 2.
Following the celebration of Pentecost, we have now entered Ordinary Time in the Church calendar. The liturgical colour for this season is green, symbolising hope and growth, and it will remain green until the season of Lent later in the year.
The Holy Trinity
This Sunday, we celebrate a special feast in the Church – Trinity Sunday. It is celebrated on the Sunday after Pentecost and reminds us of the mystery of the Holy Trinity – one God in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This is one of the most important beliefs in our Catholic faith. The Holy Trinity teaches us that there is one God in three persons: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus), and God the Holy Spirit. Each person of the Trinity is fully God, yet there is only one God.
The Trinity reminds us of the loving relationship between the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – a perfect unity. It is also a model for how we are called to live in loving relationships with God and each other.
At school, we can reflect the Holy Trinity by working together in harmony, showing love, and living in faith. As we pray the Sign of the Cross, we remember the Trinity and invite God's presence into our daily lives.
Year 6 & Prep Class Mass
Yesterday, our Year 6 and Prep students came together to celebrate a very special Class Mass focused on the theme of friendship and the joy of having friends in our lives. It was a particularly exciting occasion for our Prep students, as it was their first time celebrating Mass at the Church. Father Manoj shared a beautiful song about God’s love, which the students enjoyed learning and singing. All of the children participated reverently and respectfully, with wonderful behaviour and enthusiastic singing. It was a truly joyful and faith filled celebration. A big thank you to our parents and friends who joined in the celebration with us.

Thank you, Prep A
A big thank you to Prep A for hosting our Assembly on Monday. You did a fantastic job, especially as it was your very first time leading in front of the whole school. We are so proud of your confidence and effort!

LEARNING and TEACHING
Every minute counts!
It is amazing how we remember some things from our childhood.
I had an inspiring teacher for six years when I attended a one-teacher school with fewer than 25 students in Grades one to seven. He was the reason I decided to become a teacher at eight years of age. He would have us repeat daily: Good, Better, Best, Never let it rest. Until the good is better, and the better best.
Our goal for all our students is for them to do their best and then consider, after we have celebrated their best, how that can become better. The challenge for all of us is not to equate a child’s achievement to their value as a person, an individual with their own unique strengths, weaknesses and challenges. Nor to compare their results with their peers and then celebrate because they received better results than their peers. Some children can attain an ‘A’ or a ‘B’ on their report with minimal effort, while another child will receive a ‘D’, but their effort was far more than that of the child who received the ‘A’ or ‘B’. If this pattern continues, the roles are reversed by the time they reach the end of secondary school. The child with parents affirming their efforts and who has done their best and consistently tried to do better has developed the attitude and resilience that leads to becoming a successful adult in a personally rewarding role. On the other hand, the child who achieved ‘high’ results with minimal effort and saw their self worth linked to their achievements becomes easily disillusioned when faced with challenges that ability alone will not overcome.
Primary school is the ideal setting for children to face challenges and learn to overcome them in a safe and supportive environment. It is a place where the foundation of resilience, established before formal schooling, can be strengthened.
SEMESTER REPORTS
An addition to the semester reports is the ‘Interview Requested’ OR ‘Interview Welcome’.
Interview Requested means the teacher has not already had a recent discussion with you about your child’s learning progress and is concerned about your child’s progress.
Interview Welcome means the teacher has no concerns about your child’s learning, but if you have concerns, you are welcome to request an interview by calling the office to arrange a time.
